Rare books collections: MacGillivray Collection
Presented in 1939 by ophthalmic surgeon Angus MacGillivray (1865-1947), the collection contains c. 1,250 books of the 18th-20th centuries, in the fields of Scottish and Celtic history, literature, and archaeology. It includes many books in Gaelic, and is particularly strong in editions of the Ossian poems.
Work is currently in progress to add records for the collection to our online catalogue, and most of the books are available here. Classmarks for books in this collection have the prefix McG.
