Map collection

This collection covers both manuscript and printed maps, which includes sheet maps and those in books such as atlases. Around 8,000 catalogued maps are held in the Main Library including a large series of OS maps; older maps and those within manuscript collections are held in Special Collections. Many of these are uncatalogued at present.

Post 1900 printed maps are mostly listed on the online book catalogue. Some manuscript maps appear on the online archive catalogue. There are hard copy indexes to other sections.

Access to certain maps will require advance notice.
