Holy, Ladislav (1933-1997)

Ladislav Holy was Professor of Social Anthropology and founder of the department at St Andrews University.

Originally from Prague, Holy came to Britain on a fellowship in 1967. His field research focussed on kinship amongst the Berti in the Sudan and Toka in Zambia. His last major work was research into the notion of Czech nationalism and identity.

There is a large slide and photograph collection, lectures and teaching notes, kinship diagrams, drafts for articles and books, fieldwork notes and correspondence.
