John E. A. Steggall Collection of Scottish and Travel Photographic Albums
John Edward Aloysius Steggall (1855-1935) was Professor of Mathematics at University College Dundee from 1882 to 1933. An enthusiastic traveller and skilled amateur photographer, his 2215 images taken between 1887 and 1925. They are preserved in 46 small family albums of prints depicting a wide range of subjects including scenery, townscapes, family and friends primarily in Scotland and the UK, but also on visits to Australia, Asia, Egypt, Gibraltar and throughout Europe, predominantly Switzerland, Italy, France, Germany, and Austria.
