Motion and moving image
At the core of this new and growing collecting area sits the 100 plate series of 'Animal Locomotion' by Eadweard Muybridge published in 1893. These plates were given to the University by Muybridge through his friendship with James Bell Pettigrew, the Chandos Chair of Medicine and Anatomy at the University of St Andrews who was also interested in the study of motion.
