The Burton Middle Eastern Photographic Teaching Slide Collection

 

The Burton Middle Eastern Photogrpahic Slide Collection was initially created as a teaching slide collection by Dr John Burton, a professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of St Andrews.

 

The Collection was transfered to St Andrews University Library in 2011. The Collection of photographic slides, negatives, microfilm from Iraq and Iran was mostly taken during the 1960's or later. Some of the highlights include Bedouin camps in the marshes of southern Iraq, which includes local architectureEgyptian landscape and historic sites; and a purchased teaching slide collection of the Iranian city of Isfahan by Denis Baly.

 

There are also a series of photographically copied Arabic manuscript documents which have not been catalogued or digitised.
