About De Gruyter Ebooks
De Gruyter Ebooks provides access to DMR-Free* ebooks published by De Gruyter - an academic publisher based in Berlin. They publish books and journals in the Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, Medicine, Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering.
The University has access to selected ebooks on the De Gruyter Ebooks platform.
The Library has agreed a deal with De Gruyter which gives access to all the English language ebook titles published by de De Gruyter since 2020.
*Digital Rights Management Free = unlimited user access, download and keep as much content as you need in PDF format.
Using a De Gruyter Ebook
All De Gruyter E-books are supplied DRM-Free which means you can read, print or download PDFs of chapters, and keep as much of the content of an ebook as you need. There are no restrictions on the number of people who can access the ebook at the same time.
When you access a De Gruyter ebook you'll see a page which gives the details of the book. You can search within the ebook using the Search box on the right. Use the "Contents" tab to view the table of contents, where you'll see the option to download a PDF of a chapter or section.
Searching for a De Gruyter Ebook
All of the De Gruyter ebooks which the Library has access to can be found through the search box on the Library homepage.
To limit the search to ebooks tick the ebook option beneath the search box:
Enter a keyword, title, author or a combination of these to search for ebooks.
How do I view an Ebooks?
Click the eBook button to the right of the title of the ebook you want to use.
If you need to login to view a De Gruyter ebook you'll be directed to the University of St Andrews Microsoft Office 365 Sign-in page, where you enter your university email address and password.
Alternatively you can go directly to the De Gruyter platform to browse or search. You will be able to access any content which is labelled as "Accessible", but you won't be able to access anything labelled as "Unlicensed" as the Library hasn't bought access to this content.
