eBook Formats in the Online Reader:

What eBook formats are available?

When using the online reader, all content on OAPEN is available in PDF format. When downloading, all content is available in PDF format, with some also being available in EPUB. The availability of formats will differ between titles.

Where to find the available formats on the landing page?

Available formats can be viewed on the landing page, beneath the book's cover. The icons next to the download buttons will indicate what formats are available, both for downloading and viewing online.

Changing Font Size/Zoom:

Font Size:

Currently, there are no built-in options to change the font size within a OAPEN eBook. Changing the font size in your browser's settings will display the results across the OAPEN website, but not within an eBook.

Zoom:

Zoom percentage can be controlled within a OAPEN eBook by using the plus and minus icons present at the top of the online reader. The drop down menu to the right of these icons provides a variety of different preset zoom options to choose from.

Page Layout Options:

Changing Page Layout

Within the online reader, OAPEN offers the option to change between vertical and horizontal scrollings, as well as displaying one or two pages on screen at a time. These options can be found by clicking the two arrows icon located in the top right hand corner of the reader. Clicking this icon will bring up a drop-down menu with options for spreads, and scrolling.

Keyboard Navigation:

The OAPEN website can be navigated using a keyboard through using the tab key to move between links, and the enter button to follow a link. The arrow keys can then be used to scroll up and down a page.

Using the Table of Contents:

How do I access the table of contents from the landing page?

There is no table of contents present on the landing page. Instead, a table of contents can be accessed from within the online reader.

Many books' own table of contents are clickable and will navigate to any selected chapter. Furthermore, the reader has its own table of contents which can be accessed at any time. First, click the 'Toggle Sidebar' icon located on the top left of the screen. This will bring up a sidebar with three icons, the middle of which is the 'Show Document Outline' icon. Clicking on any chapter title in the list which appears will navigate the reader to that point in the book.
