Library Orientation: Home

A guide to library resources, facilities, and services for new and returning students

Welcome

Welcome to the University!

On this guide you will find information about:

  • Library tours taking place during orientation week
  • self-guided information which will be available throughout semester
  • a range of videos and information about the key things you need to know to get started.

We recommend you come on one of our tours, where experienced and friendly guides, most of whom are current students, will show you around, explain how to find books, and demonstrate how to borrow from the collections.

For Postgraduate students we have classroom-based orientation sessions these will allow you to get started quickly.  We are also offering tours of the study spaces available exclusively for postgraduate students.

For all students we have created a series of videos which show how to:

  • search our collections
  • make use of online reading lists
  • find things in the Libraries
  • borrow and return books and other materials

Library staff are here to help you at any stage of your time as a student.  You can speak to the staff at the Helpdesk in the Main Library for immediate help, and you can also request a one-to-one appointment with a Librarian if you have an in-depth enquiry. You can find other ways to get in touch on our Contacts page.  Please don't hesitate to ask us any questions, we're here to help.
