What is an Inter-Library Loan?

When you request something on Inter-Library Loan the Library will find other libraries that have that item and request it from them, either as a scanned document (in the case of journal articles or book chapters) or request that they send us the physical item, (as in a book.)

Please search the Library first and check if we already own the resource you need. If it is something we don't have, you can use the Inter-Library Loans service to make a request - please see 'Make a request' link above.

How long does it take?

Books and articles will usually arrive between 7 and 10 days, so please keep this in mind if you are requesting a specific title ahead of a deadline. Some items may take longer to arrive, for instance, if they are harder to source, so we can't guarantee delivery within a specific timeframe. You will receive updates on your request through your university email account.

Please allow 24 hours for us to process your request, excluding weekends and holidays.

Please note

Please note the Library reserves the right to:

  • share information with your department regarding your requests(s)

  • refuse a request if it does not clearly support learning and research within the University.
