Access to Online Resources

We can only provide access to online resources to current Staff and Students of the University of St Andrews.

We recommend you use links to online resources found from a link through Search, the A-Z Database List,  or your Subject Guide to ensure you get a link which will allow you to login.  If you use these links and are required to sign in, you'll be directed to the University of St Andrews Microsoft sign in page

Use your university of St Andrews email address and password.

If you attempt to access resources through other links (not from the Library webapges) and you need sign in:

Step 1: Look for a Login or Sign in option, such as:

• Institutional Login or Sign in via your institution
• Shibboleth

Step 2: You may be asked to select you location, select United Kingdom 

Step 3: Select University of St Andrews either from a list or from a search box

Step 4: You'll be directed to the University of St Andrews Microsoft sign in page

Login with your University of St Andrews email address and password

Library login

Occasionally you may be presented with a Library login page:

University staff and students should use the University Login

This will take you to the University of St Andrews single sign on where you login with your email address and password.

Even when you have signed in to a service, you may find that there are resources you don't have access to.  This is because the University hasn't bought access to the article, or ebook you want to view.  To check if the Library has access:

• Search using the book or article title in the search box on the Library homepage, or use the search box in this guide.  Choose the e-resources only, or e-books only box if you want to limit to what you can access online.
• To limit a search to what you have full-text access to choose the "Full text" filter on the left on the result page.
• We may have access to what you were looking for on a different website to the one you were trying to get access through.
