Library Orientation: Home

A guide to library resources, facilities, and services for new and returning students

Welcome

Welcome to the University!

This guide provides information for students who are new to the University or students who want a refresher about the Library.

Guided in-person tours of the Library finished in orientation week, but you can view our speedy tours of all the Library spaces, or use the self-guided posters in the Main Library, JF Allen Library and St Mary's Library. The Library how to's are a series of short videos which include:

  • Using online reading lists
  • Searching the collections
  • Finding books in the libraries
  • Using the self-service machines to borrow and return items

Library staff are here to help you at any stage of your time as a student.  You can speak to staff at the Helpdesk in the Main Library for immediate help, and you can also request a one-to-one appointment with a Librarian if you have an in-depth enquiry.  You can find other ways to get in touch on the contacts page.  Please don't hesitate to ask us any questions, we're here to help.
