If you need a book, article or thesis that we do not have access to, use the Inter-Library Loans service to request it. Please check the library catalogue SAULCAT before requesting an Inter-Library Loan

Please allow 24 hours for us to process your request. Times vary for the delivery of articles and books depending on the institution which supplies the material. 

It is not possible to renew items through your Library Record. If you would like to renew your Inter-Library Loan or you have any questions about your request, please email .

  • Academic staff
  • Support staff (where the request relates directly to their work or they are involved in research with academic staff)
  • Postgraduate students
  • Honours students for the purpose of dissertation or project work (note: if an item is on your reading list please contact us on
  • Pre-honours students in exceptional circumstances

Please note the Library reserves the right to:

  • share information with your department regarding your requests(s)
  • refuse a request if it does not clearly support learning and research within the University.
  • limit the number of ILL requests made

Returning Inter-Library Loans

Please return books to the Library Service Desk instead of using the return machines.
